So yes, call me lame all you want, but yesterday I truly discovered the masterpiece that is No Ceilings.  I have heard of it, but have never really listened to it.  It is spectacular.  I don't know this is so surprising to me.  I have always been told by a select few people (actually quite a bit) about the absolute genius of lil Wayne, but I have never thought too much into it.  I enjoy his music and he has a lot of great songs, but I always held something against him. I guess a lot of it comes from his present music, which I do not find to be anything of value.  I like Carter 3, which is actually one of the greatest albums I've ever heard, however, after that I feel like he went downhill.  Carter 2 was better IMO, because it was a lot more personal. but I digress.

This brings me to yesterday.  I decided to download some mixtapes from datpiff.  This is something that I don't know that much about, so naturally I look towards Google. In my search for which mixtapes to download, I came across three lil Wayne works; Dedication 2, Da Drought 3, and No Ceilings. Because of this, I have not stopped listening to lil Wayne.  And now I play to list MY top five Lil Wayne songs. I emphasis the MY because I make no claims to be a musical critic, I just enjoy it.

5) Drop the World

I know a lot of people are not as amazed by Lil Wayne in this song as I am, but this is honestly what brought me into the realm of Wayne and his music.  I have always been a lifelong Eminem fan and thought Wayne has no where the talent Eminem had.  This song, while not as technical or impressive as others by Wayne, is some of the most poetic words I have heard, whether it be by accident or not.

Love in my mind

I've seen nights full of pain

Days are the same

You keep the sunshine

Save me the rain

I don't know about you, but to me this is beautiful.  Then Eminem comes in and goes bananas.

4) Tie my Hands

I don't know what it is about this song.  The beat/guitar is on point.  Everything about this song is beautiful to me.  It's more than a rap song, it's just great music.  That what is what is cool to me.  When a rap song can go past the idea of a hip hop into great music, without abandoning rap.  That's tops.

I don't about you but it's hard not to be inspired by that.  When you listen to this song, you can hear the pain in his voice about his city. 

3) Georgia Bush

I'm not a fan of political songs traditionally, but this song is an instant classic.  Great beat build (stay tuned), great sample, and Wayne goes off throughout the entire song.  Every time he says 'Bush' after a sample of Georgia, I get chills.  I guess what finally makes this song is the hook.

Ain't nobody tired, there's no doubt on my mind, it was (Georgia) Bush!

So much emotion.  Then there is the second part.  Amazing. 

2) Let the Beat Build

Talk about a concept song.  There is not many songs that can keep you invested and entertained like this one.  The whole time I'm listening like "this is a good song" then the meta component hits me and I don't know, it might be simple minded of me but I love how it works.  When listening to this song, there is only one lyric that you need...

And that's how you let the beat build...Bitch!

That part always makes me want to dance.  This song is spectacular and I could listen to it forever. It was my first Wayne love, and shall be one of my last.  I like listening to it and tracking the building of the beat.  Plus, Wayne can rap with the best of them on this song. 

1) Pussy Money Weed

This might be the first song I heard by Lil Wayne.  I don't but my friend told me to listen to it Sophomore year of high school and I liked it, but never really got into it until recently.  I love it.  It's such a soothing song.  I don't know if it's because I have a soft spot for touching song, but I listen to this song and understand the love that he is rapping about.

Or we can stay awake and watch the next day

Einstein, her head is the greatest.

The fact that he can go from a touching, loving description, to one that is, quite honestly, vulgar, without losing romanticism, is amazing to me.

Background

Many of you may be wondering about my background for my blog.  Oh, you're not? Oh well, I'm going to explain it anyway.  As you can observe, there are a variety of mathematical equations and symbols.  I like math.  That pretty much explains it.  On a deeper note, I want to be a math teacher in the very, extremely near future.  As of now, my plan is to teach high school math and coach football as well.  However, in the recent past, I have been debating going to graduate school to continue education with mathematics.  That is something that has always seemed cool to me and I don't know for sure what I would do with it, but at some point, I could teach math at the college level, which I feel suits me well.  College is just a much more laid-back environment, where I think it would be easier to be myself.

On another note, America's Got Talent was on tonight.  This is my one main guilty pleasure.  It is a stupid reality game show, in which most of it is staged, but I eat that shit up.  There actually wasn't too many mind blowing people tonight, but every time I watch this show I feel like shit because I don't have one of those fantastic talents that makes people stand up and cheer when I walk in the building.  I'm funny I guess, and I'm good at math, but those aren't standing-ovation worthy feats.  I don't man.

All of this boils down to one main thing, leaving a mark.  That's what everyone wants to do.  There is a quote along the lines of "A man doesn't truly die until the last time his name is spoken."  If I could have people talking about me for years to come, I don't know what to think.  I doubt this will ever happen, but that's what I want, what everyone want basically.  However, I can kind of keep my mind straight with the quote from the Scrubs series Finale.  Paraphrasing, but it is basically talking about how we all want to be remember as a great person, but the truth is we should consider ourselves lucky to make a difference in a single persons life.  Then other that that it's the people we let into our hearts that count in the end.  This the most touching/sad/happy/inspirational moments for me in television.  That's not saying a lot to some people, but a lot of my emotions are deeply rooted in the television shows I watch.

My Top Five T.V. Sitcoms -

1) Scrubs -

It was the absolute perfect blend of comedy and emotion.  You never knew what you were going to get in an episode and you were never completely satisfied with an episode because you wanted more.  That is what good television does, keeps you on your toes, while at the same time making you feel for the characters.  I took so many life lessons from this silly and goofy show.

2) The Office -

One of the biggest purposes for a television show is to be an escape from everyday life, which is exactly what The Office was.  It was the most generic life, in an interesting way, but with real people.  No other show has been able to write characters that make you love them, cry for them, or cringe when they embarrass themselves (Scott's Tots).

3) Community -

The most meta show ever. A product of beautiful writing and cliche.  The show is a show about a show.  The entire last season is a metaphor for the entire show being cancelled.  The show was Greendale, and Greendale was the community.  I don't know how to explain Community with you being there to watch it. Plus the star studded cast.

4) The League -

Many people are probably like "The Fuck? The League?"  Well those people are a bunch of Fritattas who can suck a dick.  That is the only way to put that statement.  I would love to say this show is the product of excellent writing, but I'm pretty sure most of the dialogue is Ad-libed which makes it that much better.  This is another show that is not for everyone, whether it be because of the extremely graphic nature or the fact that it just follows a group of people in a fantasy football league.

5) Friends -

This does not have a in depth explanation for why I love it other than the fact that I watch it pretty much every night on Nick at Nite.  I have a definite favorite episode and I will always laugh and always strive to be chandler.  On a side note, I'm listening to Tiny Dancer right now and there is an episode where Phoebe thought the lyrics were "HOLD ME CLOSER TONY DANZA!"

Sorry about that.  I just decided that'll be my shtick.  I'm going to periodically do top five lists like in High Fidelity.  Anyway, that is all I have to say tonight.

La La La Lalala

Listening to Horse with No Name right now, which I think is one of the most beautiful songs that I have ever heard.  I just went through and made one of the greatest playlists I have ever seen.  I might be a bit biased, but it is a good mix of songs, that stay around the same tone, and they are all classically lyrical.  Nothing too folkish, and nothing too poppy.  It does range from a couple of Neil Young songs to The Cars and Styx, but Neil Young was still wrote catchy songs, and Styx still has substance their lyrics\.  I don't know, I think lyrics may be the most important thing to me for a song.  I mean, that's the point right?  I hate dancing, but I do enjoy a catchy beat/tune.  Shooting Star is on now.  I miss when music was like this.  They would tell a story that didn't really need to be personal.  90's rap was a great example of this.  I was like a little adventure that you would go on.  It's kind of funny that I'm talking about all of this music like I was there when it was released.  Anyway, I think I am really going to enjoy this playlist.

Queen! That's something I need to add.  I'll do that right after this.

Back to my life.  Tonight my sister got engaged.  That's really cool.  I'm super proud of her and everything she has done and I'm glad to see her happy - sorry, as I typed this, the song got super sad - anyway, happy note.  My sister is doing great things and I want to see her succeed.  Everyone keeps asking me when I'm going to do something about my girlfriend and honestly I don't know.  I really want to wait for my sister to get married so I don't steal any thunder from her, but I don't know, that would make it a long way away.  I guess I'll just play this year out.

I don't really have much to say about that, I'm not feeling very open tonight so I'm going to talk about the next song up for another paragraph.  Perfect. Landslide by Fleetwood Mac.  AND I SAW MY REFLECTION IN THE SNOW COVERED HILLS!!!!  I've never actually listen deeply to this song.  It gets pretty emotional. "I've been 'fraid of changin', cause I built my life around you....I'm getting older too."  It's kind of sad to think about how as time changes, we change and our interests/loves might change.  But at the same time change is good.  That reminds me of a Third Eye Blind quote (I'll probably bring them up a lot, they're my favorite band) - "You say that I've changed...well, what's wrong with that?"  I don't know that has always resonated with me.  If someone is truly for you, they'll take you for any reasonable change that is bound to happen.

Welcome All

Hello everyone.  Just to let you guys know I will be creating this blog as a way to get my thoughts out in public for everyone to read.  I don't expect anyone to read it because my life is extremely uninteresting, but feel free to connect or take any life advice from me.  I made a promise to myself this summer that I will write everyday so I will try to keep steadfast to this goal.  If anyone happens upon this blog I hope you enjoy my oddness.
